Apartment Hunting in San Francisco

Apartment Hunting in San Francisco

After making the wise decision that you will love San Francisco you will need an apartment and I warn you beforehand that it is quite expensive. First suggestion is looking for a roommate and while you live in a budget hostel start scanning the neighbourhoods. You need to know where you want to live after all and there is a huge difference between western side and eastern side of the city. And on top of that is the neighbourhood diverse and each different from the other. Narrow it down by deciding how convenient it will be to commute to work etc.
My suggestion to you when you plan to move here is to do what I did and stay in a cheap hostel while you look at the various neighbourhoods. Even when you come for a visit and want to save your holiday budget this is an excellent opportunity to stay, clean, warm and cheap in a clean place that is more than affordable. I list two of my favourites here and check them out when you are in town.
HI San Francisco Fisherman’s Wharf Hostel

This hostel is excellently located and the cheapest in all of San Francisco and as I said before, living here is not cheap, but here you find value for money. It overlooks the gorgeous Fort Mason Park, Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. It is a paradise within the city and when you are new in town you will love the super friendly staff and everybody I have met there are friends today. You are within walking distance to the bus station, Fisherman’s Wharf, the Marina and so much more. Excellent for both long term and short term stay you get free breakfast, it has free Wi-Fi, free onsite activities and tours and even laundry service too.

HI Marin Headlands Hostel

This is another gem for you in a fantastic historical building that looks impressive and expensive yet a very cheap hostel. Communal rooms, bunk beds that are warm and comfy, friendly and helpful staff and plenty of onsite activities where you meet fellow travellers and people who stay there while looking for an apartment. It has a huge games room where you make friends playing pool, Ping-Pong and foosball. Sunset hikes and game nights are great with free Wi-Fi, free parking and laundry service as well.
